GOVERNMENT OFFICAL

I think the refugee problem is a huge issue in the world. It is a global problem and needs to be dealed with. There was an estimated 14.9 million refugees in the world in 2001, people who had crossed an international border to seek safety, and at least 22 million internally displaced persons who had been uprooted within their own countries. Some government frequently see refugees as a threat or a burden, refusing to respect this core principle of human rights and refugee protection. We are trying to stop human rights abuses in countries around the world and we seek to address the main causes that force people to flee. We also advocate for greater protection for refugees and IDPs and for an end to the abuses they suffer when they reach supposed safety.
